The north Manchester region contains many of the cities monuments including monuments of Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and the Duke of Wellington.

Manchester has two universities. The University of Manchester has over 40,000 students and is the largest full-time kingdom in the United Kingdom. The other university is Manchester Metropolitan University with around 32,000 students.

Manchester has two Premiership football teams, Manchester United and Manchester City. The two teams have a fierce rivalry with the Manchester Derby often proving to be a highlight for the teams fans.
Manchester United play at the 76,000 seater Old Trafford stadium while Manchester City play at the newly built City of Manchester stadium.

Manchester has superb transport links to much of the United Kingdom and abroad. Manchester Airport is one of the United Kingdom's busiest airports and servers over 20 million passengers every year. Planes from Manchester Airport fly to many destinations including Europe, North America, Africa and Asia.

By rail, Manchester Piccadilly is the popular choice. The station is the busiest train station outside London in terms of sheer passenger numbers. Several bus services operate in the city ranging from inner town services to more wide reaching operators who connect Manchester with the outer towns and villages.
